Okay I think it is about time I make this a post. Chance the rabbit has always been my prized OC. He was like my best friend growing up. Sounds cheesy but whatever. Anyway, Chance didn't start out looking like a sexy hunky rabbit. In fact, he started out as a little feral rabbit.
The inspiration for this character was that of 90's furry cartoons. Particularly Alvin and the Chipmunks and Looney Tunes. One particular character inspired me to make this rabbit and that's Hilly Burford from Back at the Barnyard.
Yeah seriously. Chance the rabbit started out as a rabbit version of this guy which is still wild to me. Every time I tell someone this they are just so dumb founded. I mean how did a sexy rocker bunny come from that?
But anyway, back during this time, I was OBSESSED with Alvin and the Chipmunks mostly because the live action movies were a thing and.....look.....they're not for everyone....they weren't the best movies......but I loved them immensely. I took inspiration of the music aspect and made Chance a guitar player. Then I made youtube videos in the 2010's and pitched the songs to make it sound like he was singing. Same with Aaron actually. These two became a duo and not long after I made a comic of these two. Three failed attempts actually. That is of course until Divine Acid became a thing and it's been my pride and joy since. Happily creating the comic along with two co-writers.
When it comes to the design of Chance will he evolved immensely.
By the end of this was when the Dragon Ball qualities started coming in and now I'm determined to make him into a Shonen Bunny. And that's what he's become at this point. Divine Acid has a lot of Dragon Ball inspired elements and I can't wait for people to see its progression! Hopefully someday I can make an indie animated series at some point.
